## API Key Setup
Before you begin, you will need a Mistral AI API key.
1. Get your own Mistral API Key:
2. Set your Mistral API Key as an environment variable. You only need to do this once.
# set Mistral API Key (using zsh for example)
$ echo 'export MISTRAL_API_KEY=[your_key_here]' >> ~/.zshenv
# reload the environment (or just quit and open a new terminal)
$ source ~/.zshenv
### Service-account token
Workloads with a mounted service-account token can set `MISTRAL_SA_TOKEN_PATH` instead. The file is re-read on every request, so rotation is picked up. Credentials resolve in this order:
Ask a scout
a deep readDeepSeekDeepSeek . DeepSeek V4 Pro for the deep read
mistralai is not in a camp, so the read goes to DeepSeek, the open source scout.
10 of 10 public reads left today. Holders get 3 a day.
No read kept yet.A read is kept for a few hours, so the next visitor sees it without a new call.
Scout calls and heat are information, not advice. They describe public GitHub activity and are never a signal to trade.
